ALIYAH PROGRAMS
The Jewish Agency for Israel offers a range of Aliyah programs—from absorption centers to
ulpanim to assistance to help you settle softly in Israel. Have a look at our programs and
their starting dates to better plan your Aliyah.
LOCATION
You will want to discuss with your shaliach and your family, and friends which area of Israel will
best suit you and your needs.
ABSORPTION CENTERS
You might want to begin your Aliyah at a Jewish Agency absorption center, living with other
new immigrants while you learn Hebrew and the land. Ask your shaliach about the best
options for you. You can see some of our centers here.
ULPAN
You are entitled to subsidized Hebrew classes. Ask your shaliach about classes available in your
areas that are most suitable for your needs, your current level of Hebrew, and the date you wish
to begin.
INVESTMENTS
Take advice from a tax expert before your Aliyah to make sure that you can

BANK ACCOUNT
Switch to online statements.
Set up internet banking or phone banking so that you can easily access your money.
MONEY TRANSFERS
Make sure that you know how you will transfer money in the cheapest / most efficient way
possible.
CELLPHONE

If you are planning on taking your cellphone with you, make sure that it can accept an Israeli SIM card
HEALTH INSURANCE
Research health funds in the area where you will be living in Israel – most Olim sign up at Ben
Gurion Airport, or shortly after arriving.
Bring a medical history or medical records.

DRIVER’S LICENSE
Make sure that your license is current.
If the license does not carry an issue date, arrange to receive some form of confirmation of this

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS LINK

Bring with you all original documents relating to your educational and professional qualifications.
BEFORE YOUR FLIGHT
Make sure you have:
• Confirmed your flight and baggage allowance.
• Updated your Aliyah office with your first address in Israel and contact telephone numbers.
Make sure you have packed in your hand luggage:
• Your passport with an Aliyah visa.
• Originals of all documents presented to your Aliyah office.
UPON LANDING
1. Upon landing at Ben Gurion Airport, Olim and Ezrachim Oleh will receive:
• Your Teudat Oleh (Immigrant identification) OR Teudat Zakaut (Ezrach Oleh)
• Your Teudat Zehut (Identity Document)
• 1st installment of Sal Klita in cash
• Confirmation of registration with the Health Fund of your choice
• 200 free call minutes for your cellphone
• Form to be filled out by your bank when you open an account
2. Open a bank account
3. Register for health insurance if you chose not to do so at the airport (Oleh)
4. Get a cellphone plan
5. Go to the army draft offices (Katin Chozer: male – under 40 yrs; female – under 25 yrs)
6. Make an appointment with the Ministry of Absorption (Misrad HaKlita) representative
7. Receive your Teudat Zakaut (Katin Chozer)
8. Register with the representative for Sal Klita
9. Register with a representative for Ulpan
10. Apply for Arnona reduction
11. Open a file with Customs
12. Have your degrees evaluated
13. Convert your driver’s license
14. Obtain a Te’udat Ma’avar (Oleh)
15. Obtain a passport (Oleh)
